London Travel Update: Windrush Line Delayed and Partially Suspended — Stay Informed

Commuters using London Overground services this morning are facing delays, with technical issues impacting trains between Dalston Junction and Highbury & Islington.

Due to a power supply failure, TfL is reporting that the Windrush line is suspended between Dalston Junction and Highbury & Islington and between New Cross and Surrey Quays.

There are also minor delays between West Croydon and Sydenham, but a good service on the rest of the line.

Elsewhere in London, roads remain closed around Stoke Newington as 40 firefighters attended to the scene of a suspected gas explosion on Dumont Road this morning.

While the incident is thought to be under control, traffic will likely be impacted throughout the morning as teams investigate.

All lanes stopped on M25 anticlockwise near Epping

Traffic is currently queuing for at least four miles on the M25 anticlockwise near Epping after three cars were involved in a crash.

According to INRIX, traffic is queuing from J28 A12 (Brentwood / Brook Street Roundabout) to J27 M11.

Traffic has been stopped since 8:20am, but it’s unclear how long the delays will last at this point.

Multiple roads in Stoke Newington remain completely shut for now

Officers have confirmed that road closures remain in place for Stoke Newington Church Street from the junction of the A10 to Defoe Road.

Nearbye Kersley Road is also completely shut at this time.

This is due to a suspected gas explosion early this morning, which saw six fire engines and 40 fire fighters attend the scene.

The Met Police and London Fire Brigade are currently investigating what caused the explosion, but the situation is thought to be under control.

Severe delays reported across parts of the Bakerloo line

Severe delays are now being reported on the Bakerloo line between Stonebridge Park and Harrow & Wealdstone.

There are also minor delays across the rest of the line this morning due to a points failure this morning at Queen’s Park.

Tickets are being accepted on London buses if passengers wish to seek an alternative route.

Delays to trains at Moorgate

Trains running between Alexandra Palace and Moorgate this morning are experiencing delays of up to 20 minutes due to “a number of incidents.”

According to National Rail, travellers can expect delays to services coming in and out of Moorgate until around 9am this morning.

Delays to Overground services expected until at least 9am

It’s understood that trains running between New Cross Gate or New Cross and Highbury & Islington may be cancelled until around 9am.

Tickets are also being accepted on local buses, and remember you may be able to claim compensation if you’re experiencing severe delays to your journey.

Suspected gas explosion in Stoke Newington prompts road closures

Church Street in Stoke Newington has been closed in both directions due to a suspected gas explosion at a residential property.

Up to 40 firefighters are on the scene, with motorists being advised to avoid the area amid an ongoing investigation.

LFB Station Commander Darren McTernan told reporters: “Motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area for most of this morning while investigations into the cause of this incident are carried out.”

There’s a detour in operation for buses 73, 393 and 476, and expect congestion on surrounding roads.

Delays on the Bakerloo line

As we head into the morning rush hour, minor delays are being reported across all of the Bakerloo line.

According to TfL, this is due to an earlier points failure at Queen’s Park.

The District line is also experiencing some delays between Barking and Upminster because of an earlier faulty train.

There is currently a good service on the rest of the Underground.

Reports say there are queues as far back as J26. This is due to a vehicle fire and oil spillage incident.

Bus collided onto track in Croydon yesterday

Yesterday, The Standard reported a bus collision at London Bridge. A female cyclist was taken to hospital to be treated for a leg injury.

A second bus collision took place yesterday in New Addington, Croydon.

A 130 bus crashed onto a tram track at the junction of Lodge Lane and Field Way.

The London Ambulance Service confirmed it was called onto the scene at 2:38pm.

One patient was treated for a chest and arm injury.

Witnesses or those with dashcam footage are encouraged to contact the police via 101, referencing the time and location of the incident.

There is some disruption on LNER trains from Kings Cross to Hull this morning.

The 7:27, 8:03, and 9:03 trains have all been cancelled.

Reports have said this is due to strike action affecting Hull trains, which is impacting services across the network.

Planned engineering works later today

A reminder that there is a reduced service on the Weaver line between Chingford and Liverpool Street, on the Windrush line between Dalston and New Cross Gate, and on the Mildmay line later tonight.

Engineering work is also taking place on the National Rail between London Fenchurch Street and Barking/Upminster from 20:45 this evening.

Trains will instead run from London Liverpool Street.

Mildmay and Windrush lines subject to delay

The Mildmay and Windrush lines are both experiencing severe delays due to a trespasser on the tracks in the Dalston area.

Disruption is expected until 8:15 this morning.

There is a good service on all other lines.

Public urged to avoid Old Broad Street after person falls from height

Police have warned members of the public to avoid part of London’s Square Mile after a person fell from a building.

Emergency services responded to a “fall from height” in Old Broad Street at around 9.45am on Wednesday.

No further details have been released about the individual.

Chief Inspector James Minney, of City of London Police, said: “Officers from the City of London Police are currently dealing with at an incident on Old Broad Street.

“Police arrived on scene at around 9.45am.

“Cordons are currently in place and the public are urged to avoid the area if possible, while emergency services remain in attendance.”

More details about the accident have been revealed by a London Ambulance Service spokesperson: “We were called at 8.29am today (June 11) to reports of a road traffic collision on London Bridge, SE1.

“We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and a clinical team manager to the scene.

“Our first paramedics arrived on scene in approximately five minutes.

“We treated a woman for a leg injury and took her to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
